The wireless infrared counters are small and maintenance free except for a battery change every 1 to 2 years.
Our basic people counter is the Non-Directional, No-Radio counter, which is a battery operated, infrared beam sensor. This people counter consists of two sides; the IR transmitter and the IR receiver. The IR transmitter puts out a cone of infrared (IR) and allows easy, instant alignment across a door or passage. Installation & activation takes just 2-3 minutes.
Proprietary algorithms cause the IR receiver to distinguish the beam from any other IR source. This allows accurate operation without interference from sunlight or ambient lighting. The receiver side has a 6-digit liquid crystal display and a radio transmitter for truly automated counting.
These extremely small people counters weigh just two ounces.
When mounted on either side of a door or passage, can count across a 25 foot span.
Typically, an employee will read the running number from the display at the beginning and end of each day, and enter that value into an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of the counts. In Excel, the newest number is subtracted from the previous value (i.e. Yesterday), then the count may be cut in half to account for each person going both In & Out past the counter.
Counting Technologies offers our own "Traffic Tracker" Excel Workbook that includes all the calculations needed to arrive at the actual people count. Click on this link to view a PDF overview of our Traffic Tracker XLS file.
